ABOUT THE MOVIE (KRRISH)

Krrish is a 2006 Indian superhero action film directed and produced by Rakesh Roshan. The film stars Hrithik Roshan in a dual role, with Priyanka Chopra, Naseeruddin Shah, Rekha, Sharat Saxena, and Manini Mishra in supporting roles. It is the second instalment in the Krrish franchise and a sequel to Koi… Mil Gaya.

The story follows Krishna Mehra, who has inherited superhuman abilities from his father, Rohit Mehra. After falling in love with Priya, he travels to Singapore, where circumstances lead him to adopt the masked superhero persona Krrish. He soon finds himself battling the sinister scientist Dr. Siddhant Arya, who is creating a supercomputer capable of predicting the future.

The film was envisioned as a major step forward for Indian cinema, particularly in visual effects. Hollywood technicians Marc Kolbe and Craig Mumma contributed to the VFX, while action scenes were choreographed by Tony Ching. Music was composed by Rajesh Roshan, with background score by Salim–Sulaiman. Filming took place in India and Singapore.

Released worldwide on 23 June 2006 with a budget of ₹40 crore, Krrish opened to positive reviews and became a blockbuster, earning ₹126 crore worldwide and becoming the second highest-grossing Indian film of 2006. It received multiple award nominations, winning honours for Best Special Effects at both the National Film Awards and Filmfare. Hrithik Roshan won several Best Actor awards for his performance.

Krrish is widely considered a turning point for Indian cinema, helping popularize the mainstream superhero genre and setting a new benchmark for large-scale visual effects in India.

The third film, Krrish 3, was released in 2013, and the fourth instalment is expected to begin filming in early 2026.

Plot 
Krishna Mehra lives with his grandmother Sonia in a remote village, where she hides his extraordinary abilities to protect him. Now a young man, Krishna meets Priya, a visitor from Singapore, and they grow close. After returning home, Priya convinces him to come to Singapore under the pretext of featuring him in a TV program.

There, Krishna is forced to reveal his powers during a circus fire, but he disguises himself with a mask and becomes known as Krrish. His heroic acts attract attention, eventually revealing connections to Dr. Siddhant Arya, the scientist responsible for the presumed death of Krishna’s father, Rohit.

Krishna learns that Rohit is actually alive, held captive by Arya, who has rebuilt a future-predicting supercomputer using Rohit’s research. When Arya sees a vision of Krrish killing him, he tries to alter his fate but fails.

Krrish confronts Arya on his island, rescues Rohit and Priya, and defeats Arya. Krishna returns home with Rohit, reuniting him with Sonia. Rohit later uses his father’s old device to contact Jadoo, expressing gratitude for reuniting his family.
