Plot: What Is LEO About? Spoiler-Free

Parthiban lives a peaceful life in Himachal Pradesh with his wife Sathya and two children. He runs a small cafe named Bloody Sweet and is known as a calm, helpful man who never fights.

Everything changes when a group of robbers attack his cafe and he kills them brutally to save his daughter. His CCTV video goes viral across India.

Soon after, two dreaded gangsters Antony Das and Harold Das come from Telangana. They claim Parthiban is actually Leo Das, Antony’s son who left the drug cartel years ago and was thought to be dead. Antony wants him back at any cost.

Is Parthiban really Leo Das, a cold-blooded gangster? Or is he an innocent family man who is being targeted by mistake? Why does he know how to kill like a trained assassin?

The film is about his fight to protect his family and prove his true identity, while his dark past slowly comes out.

Why The Hindi Dub Blew Up Despite Being a Tamil Film

Thalapathy Vijay’s Double Shade: Vijay shows two shades - Parthi the loving father and Leo Das the smoking, ruthless killer. The cafe hammer fight scene and the interval entry with Anirudh’s BGM is his career-best mass moment. Hindi audience who only knew him from Master and Varisu saw his most violent side here.
Sanjay Dutt & Arjun as Dangerous Villains: Sanjay Dutt dubbed in his own Hindi voice as Antony Das and looks terrifying. Arjun Sarja as Harold Das is even more stylish and cruel. Their father-son villain combo became very popular in North India.
Lokesh Kanagaraj’s LCU Magic: The connection with Kaithi and Vikram made fans crazy. The hyena fight, the factory flashback, the mention of Rolex and Dilli, and Anirudh’s chartbuster songs like Naa Ready and Ordinary Person made it a full theatre experience at home.
Trisha Krishnan’s Strong Role: Trisha as Sathya is not a regular heroine. She doubts her own husband and her emotional confrontation scene - “Are you Leo?” - is one of the best scenes of the film.
Where Leo Fails

The second half is weaker than the first half. Lokesh focused too much on building the LCU world and the flashback of Leo Das is rushed and confusing, especially for Hindi viewers who have not watched Kaithi.

Also, the film is extremely violent. It has blood, brutal hammer kills, and animal attack scenes. Family audiences expecting a clean film like Varisu were shocked. The 2h 44m runtime also feels stretched in the second hour.
